I had made the consulting agreement with the Physicians a couple years back, when I’d hauled a whole pack of supers into the Halifax branch for checkups, since I’d gotten a little carried away in enjoying my new powers, and impregnated the lot of them. I was one of the two System Administrators for Earth, after all, and that gave me access to more information than most people would have. However, Web Mistress was certain that any uses of our admin powers were logged, somewhere, and we didn’t know who had access to those logs, which meant we were very careful in how we went about using (or abusing) those powers.

For the most part, we’d just used them to edit our own statuses, or those of the women I brought under my control. That kind of thing was easy to handle, since we just filed ‘support’ tickets with ourselves, did the alterations, and closed the tickets. We didn’t add a ton of points to our Status, and we didn’t make ourselves invincible, so that shouldn’t cause us any problems if admins from outside Sol came to check on us.

Actual consulting work with the Guild, however, was a stickier situation. The consultee might not be able to send in a ticket, and the System didn’t care about things like medical power of attorney or anything like that. Still, Web Mistress and I had talked about it, and decided that, so long as we limited our involvement to reading the Status, and kept any point values the same, we should be relatively in the clear, probably.

It was just after 6 PM here in Chicago, which meant that it was about eight in the morning in Perth. The message was just a few minutes old, so it had probably been sent just as the medical lead came on shift. That suggested that it was something important, but not time critical or a life-and-death emergency.

Crystal smiled at me as I told her what was up, and that I was popping over to Perth for a moment. “Before you go, Master, I’ve also received a message from Stepford. He’s apparently throwing himself a birthday party next month, and is inviting several other villains. It will be taking place at his ski lodge in Denver.”

“Interesting. So long as there are assurances in place to avoid any unfortunate incidents, I don’t see a reason to decline. Stepford is a businessman, and he knows the cost-benefit analysis of crossing me is not favorable.”

“Understood, Master. I’ll send a reply, and put it on the calendar.”

“Good girl. Now, I just have to figure out a gift to get him.”

“Well, I got an idea for that, but I’d like to test the process a bit before I tell you.”

“All right. Just don’t do anything too dangerous. Have Victory or Bloodmoon help, if you need more firepower.”

“As you wish, Master.”

With a smile on my face, I brought up the interface for my System Teleport ability. The thing had a range of a million kilometers, which was over seventy-eight times the diameter of the Earth.
